ARTRAGEOUS
"Whistler's original art party."
I think the first ARTrageous party "art show" was in 1992, at the Whistler Mountain Ski Club cabin and featured just five or six artists, Local band Route 99 - Stephen and Peter Vogler and Cam Salay - performed to almost 200 people that showed up.
Conscided a pretty big party, back then, but then again any party at at that time was a good party.
Thinking that it was a success and a great opportunity for local artists to show their work, it was decided that this event should be brought back as an annual event if possible. The challenge was to find a cheap enough venue for the starving artist.
PAINTERTAINMENT's first involvement with ARTrageous was back in 2007, actually before PAINTERTAINMENT was Paintertainment, then it was ArtbyCaryandPaulo. It really triggered the start of our new venture into the BodyPaint and Costume industry.
For our first ARTrageous we created the RETRO SKI GIRL. Tamara, our very first bodypainted model, apart from Larry that we painted for the Loonie race (see about us page)
